     With the costs for heating and lighting continually increasing, this is a good time to consider alternatives.   Here is a short list of questions that you should consider.  This exercise will help you get started along the path to renewable energy.  Great Lakes Solar and Wind Energies will be happy to help.  Give us a call,  we are always happy to discuss renewable energy options and answer your questions.  

1.  What are you expecting to accomplish by using renewable energy?

2.  What type of system are you hoping to utilize?

3.  Do you anticipate any increases in your energy consumption in the future?

4.  What type of computer software do you run?  (i.e.:  Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader)

5.  Do you have the last 12 months electric bills showing your monthly kilowatt usage?   If not, can you get a yearly statement on your usage?

6.  Are you a person who likes to understand the technical aspects of how things work?  If yes, to what degree?

7.  Where will the installation take place?  Address, directions?

8.  Where will the equipment (inverter/charger, batteries) be located at?

9.  If you are planning on using a wind turbine,  what obstructions (tall trees, building, ridges) are within a 500 foot radius of where the proposed tower will be?  Approx height?

10.  Do you have any neighbors who might object to any of the equipment?

11.  Do you have any friends with electrical or carpentry talents that would like to help?
